Begin with written house procedures
A sober living home should decide what its own policies require before purchasing a test. Consider how residents are informed, who has access to records, how privacy is handled, and what staff will do when a question or unexpected result arises. Do not rely on a product page to establish house policy.
Where legal, clinical, or resident-rights obligations apply, get appropriate professional guidance before introducing a testing process.
Match a product record to requirements
Record the exact SKU, target list, specimen format, cutoff text, and source instructions for any item under review. A panel count does not identify the analytes, and similar product names do not prove two products share a configuration.
Confirm any regulatory or classification claim for the particular item. If the listing and supporting documents disagree or do not provide enough detail, ask for supplier clarification instead of guessing.
Keep staff guidance product-specific
If a product is selected, staff should be able to find its current instructions and know where purchasing questions should go. Storage, handling, read timing, and limitations should come from the exact product documentation.
This guide does not prescribe testing frequency, house rules, clinical interpretation, or legal procedures. Those decisions must be made by the organization with the appropriate expertise.
